On behalf of the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, it is our pleasure to invite you to the virtual Broward Early Childhood Education Conference 2021. We know this has been a year full of challenges, and we applaud your commitment to your professional growth during these difficult times. In addition to the many virtual trainings we have and continue to provide you through Zoom and Go To Webinar, we are excited that you will be joining us for this special event, organized for our incredibly special Broward early learning community.
This year's theme is "Making Connections". In March 2020, when the world basically shut down, we tried our hardest to quickly shift our service model, to ensure that we would safely continue to support Broward's child care community and the families it serves. As we operate in this global pandemic, the ELC staff continue to reach out to you and Connect. Through email, newsletters, phone calls, Go To Webinar, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, we connected. We also connected Health Care Workers and First Responders to child care centers for care at free or reduced rates. Our Broward community of nonprofits, social services, the school district, and Broward County government connected to ensure we were all sharing much needed resources and information related to the pandemic to child care small businesses and families. The ELC in collaboration with the Jim Moran Foundation, Children's Service's Council, AD Henderson Foundation, and the United Way of Broward County came together to connect funding for learning pods for school aged children. We also connected with Junior Achievement to provide food, books and resources to families. However, we were not the only ones that modified the way we connect. You - our community of educators also made sure to connect with families, students and each other. We applaud you for your continued efforts to Connect, whether in person or virtually.
We are excited to connect you with Rachel Wagner, MSW as our keynote speaker this year. Rachel is the author and creator of FLIP IT! Transforming Challenging Behavior. She is also the co-author of Your Journey Together: Building the Resilience of Children and Families, and the Devereux Resilient Leadership Survey (DERLS). In a year when so many are experiencing many varying emotions, including our children, Rachel will share her expertise with us to be sure we can provide the best love, care and support to our children and families.
Finally, thank you to all our community partners that continue to support the ELC and our educators in the work we do. Thank you to Wells Fargo, Brown & Brown, PNC Bank, United Way of Broward County, and the Children's Services Council of Broward County for your continued support.
We look forward to seeing you to connect even more on April 10th.
